About The True North 50

The view from the helm is unobstructed. True North hull forms are designed to provide very little bow rise as you accelerate. The engine pod controls and electronics are configured to allow ease of operations offshore or when docking. The galley is positioned on deck between the main cabin and aft cockpit to keep the cook and bartender in the middle of whatever party you’re hosting. The overhead opening sun roof provides beautiful views and fresh air, day or night. And the choice of appliances, stowage options, and surfaces reflect that this yacht may be your extended home afloat. Seating is abundant with a social design and plenty of space to relax while enjoying a 360 degree view.

Move the wrap-around transom seating to the sides, open the transom doors and you can bring aboard a full-size tender, launch the toys or enjoy fifteen feet of teak “beach.” Choose from our three options in transom openings.

For propulsion, twin diesels are coupled to IPS drives. This system not only increases propeller efficiency but makes departures or docking incredibly easy. Her state-of-the-art IPS drives further enhance the efficiency of her easily-driven and soft-riding hull, so you can cover the miles without pain to body, soul or fuel budget.

Our new Fly Bridge design will allow you and guests to drive from up top and enjoy the view. This option includes second steering station, engine controls, gauges, and has amenities such as critical cup holders and storage.

There are many factory options available, allowing owners to create a boat that is tailored to their individual tastes and requirements.

Designer’s Comments

“The challenge presented to us was to maintain the primary features that define the True North brand while at the same time refining the pilothouse lines and cockpit geometry. The end result is a yacht with the striking lines reminiscent of its down-east heritage, and the power, performance and styling that will anchor it firmly in the 21st century.”

Langan Design Partners was commissioned by US Watercraft to design the True North 50, the flagship of the True North range.  Our brief was to reinvent the product line while staying faithful to the core DNA of the True North brand: striking lines, an ability to tackle the harshest marine environments, and a focus on offering True North owners the most compelling features.

Through a methodical design process we eventually converged on a sweet spot that conveys the elegance of the original True North design yet exudes an impression of power and ruggedness that reflects the boats capabilities. The end result is the True North 50: an iconic design that will place this boat in a class of its own.

The new styling emphasizes the long sweep of the shear line by contrasting it with the straighter, tighter lines of the pilothouse. Full wrap round glass accentuates the sleek impression, giving the overall design a more modern, powerful and luxurious feel. Corners, openings, hardware and details have all been rethought to provide the same impression of contemporary elegance.

The cockpit and transom are a core element of this design: we wanted the layout to stand out in its ability to offer the fullest possible experience of being on the water: Opening the transom doors gives the users access to one of the largest swim platforms in the industry – a true movable beach that can be used to launch paddle boards, kayaks or to rig a sailing dinghy.  The cockpit was also designed as a prime spot of entertaining: the deep, comfortable seating was designed to provide the perfect spot for relaxing after a busy day outdoors, or to be converted to a full dining for lunches or dinners outside.

The interior layout and styling were also designed to meet the new expectations set by the exterior. We wanted the first impression when entering a True North 50 to be that of quality, luxury and space. Every element of the layout was rethought down to the smallest detail to reflect how we envision the boat will be used.

Finally the entire mechanical system was redesigned with a focus on performance and simplicity. The twin IPS drives provide a smooth, efficient motoring experience while ensuring an easy return to the dock.
